U Pick 'Em

On Saturday, Sam picked something that is both acceptable in public and delicious. We live about a mile from a strawberry farm, and the berries are ripe! Although Sam was slightly disappointed there were no animals at this particular farm, we told him they were in the barn because it was so chilly. He had a blast, and while he ate a ton of berries right out of the basket before I could wash them, he did hold off on eating them, for the most part, until we had paid for them. His buddy Eli joined us.

BFF

The Peanut in Beantown

Y'all, Sam flew in an airplane for the first time ever, and it was THE. BEST. THING. If you ask him where he went, he'll tell you, "Boston." If you ask him why he went to Boston he'll tell you, "Daddy running race." He may also tell you he went to visit his grandma, but that's not true. In anticipation of the BIG TRIP we checked out a few books from the library on flying, and his favorite featured a little boy who flew on a plane to visit his grandmother. Sam is still asking where grandma is. It was a successful, albeit exhausting, trip. Bruce ran in the Boston Marathon, in record heat. He did great! Sam and I went to watch him pass at mile 24. Somehow we missed him, which caused both of us no small amount of frustration. But that was the only blip in an otherwise fantastic trip. That Bruce found us a hotel with two playgrounds adjacent was a stroke of genius. Excuse some of these photos...I tried to blog directly from my phone, and it didn't work as well as I'd hoped.

Sam loved flying. He loved trying to use the airport restroom a little less. I think we'll not try that again until he's 12. Note the little blue airplane he's holding.
Sam's strikes his usual pose at Logan Airport in Boston.
Such a long day. He finally conked out in the stroller at lunch. That's the first time ever he's fallen asleep without being in a crib in a darkened room. Perhaps we need to get out more?

Here is Sam at the aquarium. Yes, he's covering his ears again, but in his defense, a boat nearby had just blown it's airhorn, and it was really loud.

Posing with the giant penguin at the aquarium. One of the highlights of the visit for Sam.

"What is your horse's name, Sam?" "Horse."

Sam rides the firetruck to "save the people." He's wearing his fireman jacket and hat, despite the 80+ degree heat in Boston that day.

An Interview with a Toddler

Nothing too earth-shattering here, but I thought I'd share what our typical afternoon conversation is like. Let me know if I should insert subtitles in our next interview (in which Sam will talk about snakes).
