Most everyday, Sam wakes up first thing in the morning and asks for "Mommy" - although he sounds a bit like an Englishman and it comes out "Mummy." In our house he gets his way about half the time. He doesn't usually begrudge the fact that he's got to put up with his father first thing in the morning, but he certainly doesn't get the same level of service that he does when Allison has morning duty.

She greets him with a smile and a hug and whisks him away to his morning breakfast. In no time flat the two of them are practically doing pirouettes down the hall and into the kitchen. I wish I were exaggerating, but the two of them together are a deadly combination. Whether its the morning rush or the afternoon day care grab and go, Sam and Allison are a tough team to beat.
Allison and I like to say we share 50/50 Sam duties, but I'm not so sure. She's the one who never forgets to give him his medicine. She's the one who calls the day care to let them know when we'll be late. She knows when to take him to the doctor. She always handles his meals. She makes sure he's got play dates. She's the chief photographer and editor of this blog. She lines up baby-sitters and dog sitters. She makes sure he's got sunscreen and a hat. She plans birthday parties and costumes for Halloween. She makes sure that we make time to go to the park and have fun. She makes our home a fun place.

All that is beautiful, fun, funny and charming, about Sam, comes from his mom.
For all those things and so much more, Sam and I want to say to Allison: Thank you and we love you!
